A LETTER FROM
MAYOR MIKE SPANO
As you may all know I loved in Park Hill for most of my life and had the opportunity to attend Mt. Carmel School, develop friendships and many great childhood memories. I will never forget the many families and our yearly events. Now, as Mayor of the City of Yonkers, it brings me great joy when there are neighborhood associations, such as the Park Hill Residents' Association, that still take great pride in their community.
Overall, Yonkers has come a long way in the last six years. We are a city that people move to rather than move from. Yonkers has gained jobs rather than losing them, as nearly $2B in private investment has resulted in the creation of hundreds of new permanent jobs. In addition, we have improved the fiscal management of our city and today Yonkers' bond ratings are the highest they've been in a generation. Within our school district, graduation rates are up, crime is down and people are starting to change the way they view Yonkers.
I am a strong supporter of community bonding which helps to improve social cohesion, trust and happiness. As Mayor, I have always noticed that you all find ways to remain involved and engaged within your neighborhood and throughout Yonkers. I am aware of the importance of residents being informed of what developments or changes are being made in their city. Therefore, I encourage you all to visit www.yonkersny.gov and follow what is happening in your city.
In closing, I've always said that the progress of our city is not a partisan issue; it's a Yonkers issue. That's why I'm committed to working with you - and all Yonkers residents - to make Yonkers an even better city in which to live, work and raise a family!
